Florissa Summer Volunteer Internship

Seeking a college student studying psychology, social work, or other related field who is interested in gaining understanding of the day-to-day operations in a behavioral and developmental health clinic.  Experiences will be focused on the administrative processes required for effective clinical work, though the intern will have opportunities to interact with clinical psychologists and Master’s level therapists to obtain further understanding of the different roles these clinicians have in mental health services.  Duties may include the following: training in the essentials of confidentiality and practice in rural settings; creating and maintaining HIPPA-compliant medical records for clients utilizing a widely-used psychology practice electronic medical record and paper files; obtaining initial information from individuals calling to receive services; collaborating with other service providers by obtaining previous records and evaluation results; exposure to normed measures of functioning by scoring parent-, teacher-, and self-report measures which are part of comprehensive diagnostic evaluations; assisting with the facilitation of group therapy and summer camp for children and adolescents; and exposure to resources for child practice.  The internship will include 8-20 hours per week on site at Florissa with oversight by clinical and administrative staff. Start and end date flexible. This internship is an excellent opportunity to learn about the field of child clinical psychology in a vibrant multidisciplinary practice.

Requirements include: at least 2 semesters (or equivalent) of college completed; strong verbal and written communication skills; good attention to detail.  DCFS Mandated Reporter Training required upon acceptance of internship.  Start and end date flexible based on academic schedule requirements for the intern.
